A 6'5" dual-threat quarterback from Summit High School in Spring Hill, Destin was the full-time starter for three and a half seasons, guiding the Spartans to an extraordinary 40-5 record. That run included a Class 5A state championship as a junior — the program's first — and back-to-back state runner-up finishes. His senior season was historic: Destin rushed for 2,308 yards and 30 touchdowns while throwing for 1,436 yards and 18 more scores, earning Region 7-6A Most Valuable Player honors. His crowning achievement came at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he was named the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Award winner for Division I, Class 6A — the largest classification in Tennessee — becoming just the fourth Williamson County Schools player ever to win the award.

Destin signed with the University of Kentucky as a four-star prospect alongside Keaten, with the intention of playing quarterback in the SEC.
